Lchokuti Foundation

With the help of local staff as well as international volunteers, the Lchokuti Foundation provides informal education and advice by teaching life skills, language, literacy, culture, and health. Additionally, the program provides special events such as cultural/entertainment programs, sporting events, and guest speakers. The programme is based in and around Merille, Marsabit County, Eastern Province of Kenya. Lchokuti  aims to improve quality of life by facilitating students’ everyday life, as well as altering long-term community attitudes towards education.

The monitoring and evaluation take place internally on a quarterly basis. The project managers working at each school compile a report and share it with the senior administration of the organization. Since inception, the program has had a very agile approach towards learning. If the results in the report are found lacking, the project managers are encouraged to learn lessons from old strategies and adopt a new approaches for problem solving. 

As of May 25th, 2016, teacher attendance was measured at 100%.

Building partnerships with local and international educational NGOs for help with funding, book and other resource donations, and any other assistance which might promote cultural exchange in order to find international volunteers. The program also applies for grants and posts on several independent advertising sites to attract potential donors, including interested individuals. The Lchokuti Foundation does raises awareness for the issues/problems affecting the area, mainly through social networks.
